The WML (Winter Mountain Leader Award) was established to promote the safe enjoyment of the hills and mountains of the UK during winter conditions. The scheme provides training and assessment in the technical and group management skills required by those who wish to lead groups in the mountains of the UK.

Before attending a training course you must first:

• Hold the ML Summer Award
• Register with the Scottish Mountain Leader Training Board (visit http://www.mltuk.org/docs/registration-wml.html)
• Have gained a minimum of 20 quality winter days in 3 different mountainous areas of the UK

These quality days should involve elements of planning, exploration of unfamiliar areas, navigation, use of crampons and ice axe for security and safe travel.

We have 1 training course and 1 assessment course for winter 2009
