Single Pitch Award - Training Course

This practical 2 day training course will cover new skills required to supervise novice groups on single pitch crags. In addition, personal climbing plays a big part of the course. A typical training course outline will look like this:

Itinerary

Day 1

We spend the day looking at your personal rock climbing skills with emphasis on your technical skills such as lead climbing and belay construction. Access and conservation issues will be part of the day. This day will also include a visit to a indoor wall to cover supervision skills in this popular environment.

Day 2

This day looks at group management skills, new techniques for looking after novices in rock climbing and abseiling activities with access and conservation issues. At the end of the course we conduct a review with a look at your personal action plan and logbooks.

The ratio of instructors to participants on this course is 1:4.
