This practical 6 day course will cover the technical and group management skills required to lead groups in the mountainous areas of the UK in non winter conditions.
A typical training course outline will look like this:

- Mountain day with emphasis on navigation skills
- Evening lecture on mountain weather

Morning meet with leadership skills discussion.
- Mountain day with emphasis on leadership skills
- Evening lecture on mountain hazards

Day 3
|
Hazards of steep ground day.
- Hazards of steep ground and security techniques
- Evening lecture on access and conservation
- Expedition preparation skills

Day 4
|
Depart for expedition.
- Navigation skills and leadership
- Night navigation and expedition skills
- Overnight camp
|
|
Day 5
|
Expedition continues.
- Navigation and leadership
- Return to base
- Theory on mountain safety & emergency procedures
- Evening visit to local Mountain Rescue base

|
Day 6
|
Improvised rescue.
- River crossing session
- Individual debriefs
- End of course 4pm
